RE: The tariff classification of Acetylcysteine Injection in dosage form, from Spain
Dear Mr. Shah:
In your letter dated May 13, 2021, you requested a tariff classification ruling.
Acetylcysteine Injection, imported in 6 g/30 mL (200 mg/mL), is an intravenous antidote for the treatment of acetaminophen overdose. Acetylcysteine injection is indicated to prevent or lessen hepatic injury after ingestion of a potentially hepatotoxic quantity of acetaminophen in patients with acute ingestion or from repeated supratherapeutic ingestion (RSI).
The applicable subheading for the Acetylcysteine Injection in dosage form will be 3004.90.9290, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Medicaments … consisting of mixed or unmixed products for therapeutic or prophylactic uses, put up in measured doses…or in forms or packing for retail sale: Other: Other: Other: Other.” The rate of duty will be free.
